In a citywide effort to improve energy efficient practices, the Springfield, MO, R-12 School District awarded the Pershing Elementary School roof, window, and HVAC system replacement to H Design.
Because the original school was built in the late 1950's, it was important that the school image be maintained as it has served as a landmark to the surrounding neighborhood. The bright colors and rectilinear patterns are consistent with the building's original design and form, while the minimalist approach is a refreshing, energy efficient solution.
The materials and patterns of the doors and windows tie together the eight previous additions the school has undergone, giving Pershing a consistent, playful image.
