Located in Bolivar, MO, this 28,830-square foot Nursing School provides administrative space, skills labs, and various sized classrooms to meet the growing student population in the healthcare environment. Serving as an “entrance” into the Citizens Memorial Healthcare Campus, this facility not only serves as the entry piece, but also provides CMH a true foundation and front door.
Designed to appeal to a learning environment, yet tie into the existing CMH campus—the use of stone, brick, glass and floating roof forms are embraced. The building is designed in which there are two facades—the administrative/visitor and the student/users. Guided by a programming requirement, both sides can act independently of one another.
This new walkout facility was designed in a manner that optimized the existing conditions; which therefore reduced initial cost of construction. It is the attempt that this new facility will start a new precedent in both standards and image of CMH on a broader scale.
