Back in May 2016, hdesigngroup had three new hires find a new work space within our group. One might suspect that having three new personalities join a group that was in a groove, would throw things for a loop. However, we have found that it has enhanced the culture at H. We are very thankful for our new team members, and what they are already contributing to h design group, our work efficiency, and the culture. Curious about what kind of people are fitting in at H? Keep reading to learn about Thomas Fetters and Stephanie Monroe.
Thomas Fetters, Architectural Designer
After getting to know Thomas a little bit, one could assume that he’s the type of guy that would play the air guitar at his desk when a good song comes on the stereo. Too bad he doesn’t still have his mullet and band mates from back when he was in high school to complete the experience. Yep! Thomas shared with us, “In high school I had an enormous mullet, earrings and played bass in a rock band… [and had] big dreams of playing music for a living and being a “rock star.” Nothing wrong with that in our book.
Lucky for us, instead, Thomas joined our band of designers in May 2016 as an Architectural Designer. He has yet to break out one of his guitars for a jam session, but we will continue to wait. With nearly 20 years of experience in Thomas’ repertoire of drafting and design, he brings a diverse range of skills to be honed in on architecture at H. hdesigngroup is his first architectural focused firm to be a part of, and we are very thankful that at H he is able to do what his heart has always wanted. With experience in commercial design, site layout, visual graphics, and presentation, Thomas’ first projects to work on at H include the new office for hdesigngroup and Wildwood Senior Living.
Thomas is a Springfield, MO native, and we couldn’t be happier to introduce this creative, tech savvy, musically inclined, bookworm, and new team member of H to everyone. Words of encouragement from Thomas’ desk, “Stay hungry. Stay foolish.”
Stephanie Monroe, Architectural Intern
Stephanie has been a team member at hdesigngroup since May 2016—committing to H and working part-time before graduating from Drury University with a Master’s of Architecture Degree. While studying to get her Master’s, Stephanie worked at Spencer Architects as an Intern during 2015, spec writing and conducting construction administration. As a team member and Architectural Intern at H, Stephanie is contributing to the rubber band shooting culture, drafting, and designing SketchUp models. At H, she is already involved in a diverse set of projects—from our new office to an ADA/special needs bathroom.
Surrounded by trees and a fishing hole, is where we would find Stephanie on a day off. She probably bicycled to get there, with a backpack full of her hobbies. She is ready to catch fish, or find some hunting grounds. If the mood changes, she might unzip her backpack to unveil her frisbee—anyone up for a game of ultimate Frisbee? Or, she might take out her drawing pad and crafts. (When we first met Stephanie, we were blown away by her illustration skills, and we look forward to seeing more of it as she settles in at H.)
If Stephanie is looking for company and a new adventure, she’ll give her dad a call and see if he wants to join in on her downtime to create/build something together. “Thanks, Dad for always having a new project to design and construct—it led to my dream of becoming an Architect (I’m almost there),” exclaimed Stephanie.
Everyone, help us welcome Stephanie to H!
