H Associate Architects

H Design Group is pleased to announce the promotions of two long-term members of the firm. Tyler J. Peck and Matt Capen have both been promoted to the position of Associate Architect. These promotions recognize the contributions made to H Design Group during their tenure and we wish them the best as they take on their new responsibilities.

Tyler J. Peck, AIAAssociate Architect

Originally from Kirksville, Tyler attended the University of Kansas and graduated with a bachelors degree in Architecture in 1994. In 1995, Tyler moved to Springfield where he was hired by Hood Rich Architects and Engineers.  Over the following ten years he gained invaluable experience working alongside in-house civil, mechanical and structural engineers.  In need of a career change, Tyler joined H Design Group as Project Architect in 2006 and has since worked his way up to Associate Architect.

At H Design Group, Tyler’s primary responsibility as Associate Architect, has been taking building projects from the early schematic design concept through the finished project.  His careful direction of the project team greatly affects the completion of highly coordinated construction drawings.  During the construction phase of projects, Tyler is responsible for all communication between the General Contractor and the Owner.  He oversees that the project is completed according to the plans and specifications, to insure the owner is handed keys to the highest quality building possible.

Tyler has extensive experience with several project types including banks, educational, office/retail, religious and transit facilities, with a strong expertise in larger commercial construction.  Some of his more notable projects with H Design Group include;  CU Boonville Maintenance Campus, Springfield-Greene County Botanical CenterSt. Elizabeth Ann Seton School Addition and the Dr. Naugle Medical Clinic.

At home, Tyler has been married to his wife Tracie for 21 years. They have two children, Hannah (age 17) and Hunter (age 12), who attend Nixa Public Schools.  When not at the office Tyler can be found leading his son’s Boy Scout troop, attending his daughter’s swim meets, hiking/camping or enjoying the outdoors on his dirtbike.

Matt Capen, AIAAssociate Architect

Recently promoted to Associate Architect, Matt has been an employee of H Design for over 9 years. After earning a bachelor’s degree from University of Kansas School of Architecture and Urban Design in 2003, Matt moved to Springfield, Missouri and began working for Butler, Rosenbury & Partners.  He soon joined H Design Group in 2004 and worked his way from Intern Architect to Project Manager and later earned his professional architectural license in 2009.

Still in his early 30s, Matt is the youngest registered architect at H Design. His fresh outlook helps the firm stay current with the latest technical changes in such an ever-changing industry.  Additionally, Matt attends numerous continuing education seminars throughout the year allowing him to learn more about new and innovative products, stay up to date with the specialty aspects of the profession, and give H Design’s clients the quality of work they deserve.

Matt has worked on several projects with H Design Group including several apartment projects forTLC Properties, renovations to Pinegar Chevrolet’s Republic and Branson dealerships, and Meek Chiropractic’s new office in Springfield. He is currently the Project Architect on Forsyth School District’s Performing Arts Center, Lamar School District’s new Gymnasium Building Addition, and MSU’s Department of Art and Design/UMKC School of Pharmacy atBrick City in downtown Springfield.

Outside of the office, Matt spends as much time as possible with his wife of 8 years Karen, daughter Makenna who is 4, and son Chase who is 3.  Matt’s also enjoys his involvement with Church at the Center, staying in shape, playing golf, and watching KU basketball.
